September 15, 2021 Webinar Archive: Benefit Considerations: Medicare and Group Health Plans

With Medicare open enrollment around the corner, join us as we discuss Medicare and group health plan considerations. We will begin with a review of Medicare eligibility and Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) rules. We will continue the discussion with how Medicare rules interact with other benefit laws, such as Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) rules, Section 125, and COBRA. We will conclude with a summary of Medicare’s reporting and disclosure obligations. By the end of the presentation, participants should better understand Medicare rules and their impact on group health plan benefits administration.

Diane joined NFP in 2019 to educate, consult, and problem-solve on issues related to health and welfare benefits. Most recently, Diane advised employers on matters related to employee benefits compliance for a regional insurance brokerage, helping employers achieve and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws. She has experience consulting on issues related to ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, Section 125, PPACA, among other regulations, as well as advising on rules related to HSAs, FSAs, HRAs, and other matters impacting employee benefits administration. Diane earned her Bachelor of Science from Butler University and her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. She is a member of the Indiana bar.

Patrick has nearly 20 years of legal experience, including experience as in-house counsel for technology companies, intellectual property counsel and administrative law counsel. He worked as an attorney for the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and as senior counsel in the Chief Counsel’s Office of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission – Office of Inspector General. He has handled complex matters pertaining to attestation standards, intellectual property law and Medicaid. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
