Podcast Episode 23: Hot Topics for 2018

Every other week, NFP’s legal experts make the subject of compliance personal for a wide audience. By breaking down the daunting details of emerging policies and bridging the gap between legislation and what it means for the listener, Chase Cannon and Suzanne Spradley make compliance issues relatable and relevant. Visit our Soundcloud page every two weeks for the most up-to-date episode.

In this episode, Suzanne Spradley responds to rapid-fire questions from Chase Cannon regarding the hottest benefits compliance topics to watch in 2018. They quickly touch upon what could happen with respect to the repeal of the ACA’s individual mandate, potential individual market stabilization bills in the House and in the Senate, the ACA’s employer mandate and reporting (including continued IRS enforcement letters and a potential change to the definition of “full time employee”), changes to and impact from the DOL’s proposed rule on association health plans, the Cadillac tax (now delayed until 2022), and the tax credit for those employers that provide paid FMLA leave. With ACA repeal and replace mostly off the table for Congressional Republicans, the two consider other piecemeal changes to the ACA that could happen in 2018.
