Law on Group Health Coverage for Autism Spectrum Disorder Amended
April 04, 2017
On March 9, 2017, Governor Daugaard signed House Bill 1195 into law, amending the law as it relates to group health coverage for autism spectrum disorders. Specifically, the Bill now requires that applied behavior analysis treatments be performed or supervised by persons who are licensed by the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners or the Board of Examiners of Psychologists, or who have a master's or doctoral degree and are certified by the National Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a board certified behavior analyst. The Bill is effective Jan. 1, 2018.
