On March 25, 2016, Gov. Herbert signed SB 138 into law. According to the new law, plans must provide, at a minimum, coverage of emergency medical services as outlined in PPACA. Specifically, plans that provide coverage for hospital emergency services must provide those services without advance authorizations and regardless of whether the services are provided in- or out-of-network. The new law is effective May 10, 2016.
