On Feb. 9, 2015, Gov. Wolf announced that Pennsylvania would proceed with Medicaid expansion. The new platform will replace the "Healthy PA," which pays the cost of private health insurance for eligible individuals. Individuals aged 19 to 64 with incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level ($16,243 for a single person in 2015), children, pregnant women and people with disabilities may continue to be eligible for Medicaid coverage. The main difference between Healthy PA and the newly expanded Medicaid coverage will be that benefits are provided under a single benefit package. The effective date is not yet known as the state is still working on the transition.
