MT State Updates - 2015 Jan 17 No.01

On Nov. 2, 2015, Gov. Bullock announced that he has secured CMS approval of Montana’s Medicaid expansion plan. Gov. Bullock signed the Health and Economic Livelihood Partnership (HELP) Act into state law April 29, 2015. However, federal approval was required before the law could move forward, because the plan requires nominal co-pays if administered by a third party.

The expansion makes health coverage available to individuals and families who earn less than 138 percent of the federal poverty level (roughly $16,000 per year for an individual and $33,000 for a family of four). Applications for the HELP plan will be accepted immediately for coverage that will begin in January 2016.
