On Sept. 24, 2015, the Texas Department of Insurance issued Bulletin No. B-0023-15 to remind regulated entities and residents of Texas that annual open enrollment for Medicare is Oct. 15, 2015, through Dec. 7, 2015.
While mainly directed toward regulated entities and consumers, this serves as a reminder for Texas employers that a related notice, the Medicare Part D Notice of Creditable or Non-creditable Coverage, should be provided to employees no later than Oct. 14, 2015. This employer-provided notice is meant to be utilized by employees when determining whether they must enroll in Medicare Part D to avoid late enrollment penalties, even when currently employed.
