Certain Health Providers Granted Telehealth, Off-Site Flexibility

On April 9, 2020, Gov. Abbott granted the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation the authority to ease telehealth restrictions for certain health care providers, including behavioral analysts and hearing instrument fitters. The department was also given the authority to suspend the requirement that orthotists and prothetists provide services on-site at an accredited facility. This authority was granted in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Employers with employees in Texas should be aware of these developments.
