As a result of the COVID-19 public health crisis, HealthSourceRI has adopted a limited special enrollment period (SEP) available through April 15. This will allow uninsured Rhode Island residents to elect coverage via the individual marketplace.
As background, generally individuals can only enroll in marketplace coverage during open enrollment or an SEP. HealthSourceRI created an SEP (in addition to other SEPs available) in response to the growing COVID-19 concerns to best assist uninsured Rhode Island residents. Individuals wanting to elect coverage should visit HealthSourceRI.com and use “COVID-19” as the reason.
Employers should be aware of these developments and should communicate with employees accordingly.
