June 16, 2015
On March 25, 2015, Gov. Tomblin signed HB 2493 into law, creating Chapter 146. The law prohibits a health plan or policy issued on or after Jan. 1, 2016 from having a different copayment, deductible or coinsurance for anti-cancer medications that are administered by the patient than for those administered by a health care provider. The bill also allows for cost containment measures if the cost of compliance exceeds two percent of the total cost of coverage. The law became effective June 10, 2015.
